Coronavirus: Quebec government to help students catch up as they head back to school
CA, 17 Aug 2020
Quebec Education Minister Jean-François Roberge unveiled a series of measures aimed at helping students achieve success as they head back to class amid the ongoing novel coronavirus pandemic.
Roberge said the government would invest $20 million to hire more staff –such as teachers and technicians— and carry out individual follow-ups for students.
The province will also waive a bureaucratic process for two years to allow schools to immediately access funding for students who have learning disabilities.
Last week, Roberge announced a revamped novel coronavirus plan. It would require staff and students in Grade 5 and above to wear masks in commons spaces such as hallways, while face coverings would not be required in the classroom.
Students will also not have to adhere to physical distancing in class, which will act as their bubble.
