Ontario Education Minister Stephen Lecce is expected to provide an update on the province's back-to-school plan on Thursday, and will be joined by chief medical officer of health Dr. David Williams.

Lecce's announcement comes only a day after Premier Doug Ford was pelted with questions about the risks of having students return to school in the fall.

The minister's briefing also comes minutes after Ford's own daily update, being held in Windsor, Ont.

On Thursday, Ontario reported 78 new cases of COVID-19 and no new deaths, however it noted that numbers from Toronto Public Health were not available resulting in an "underestimation" of the daily numbers.
