North Korea declares emergency over first reported COVID-19 case
Al Jazeera, 26 Jul 2020
North Korea has put the border city of Kaesong into lockdown - saying its first case of coronavirus may have been brought in from South Korea.
Images were broadcast of Kim Jong Un chairing a meeting to announce the measures; state media says the suspected case is a defector who fled to South Korea years ago, before returning illegally last week.
South Korea says it is investigating the reports.
North Korea steadfastly denied having any infections throughout the pandemic, a claim questioned by outside experts.
