Ontario Premier Doug Ford is expected to make an announcement alongside Health Minister Christine Elliott on Monday as COVID-19 proof of vaccination QR codes have been rolled out for fully vaccinated residents to enter non-essential businesses.

The QR codes will act as barcodes that will easily be scanned by businesses. The government has indicated the QR code contains a person’s name, date of birth, vaccine manufacturer, lots and dose dates, the jurisdiction for vaccine administration and information and specifications that follow SMART Health Card standards.

Ford's announcement Monday also comes ahead of plans to release details about exiting Step 3 of the COVID-19 reopening plan, which would determine when capacity limits can be lifted for remaining venues, like restaurants and gyms, that have a proof-of-vaccination policy.
