U.S. President Donald Trump met with several parents and health officials on Wednesday as he continues his push to get children back in schools despite a recent surge in cases, criticizing virtual learning used the past several months, saying it was not as good as being in the classroom.

The president also criticized the idea of schools holding classes every other day, or the idea of student cohorts learning one day, followed by a separate group the day after, saying it "seems very strange."

Trump also suggested funding should only go to schools offering in-person instruction, repeating previous comments that if a student chooses to leave their current school for one that has in-person learning, the money should go with them.
