Ontario Premier Doug Ford called on all residents in the province to get the flu shot as the province prepares for a "second wave" of the novel coronavirus.

Ford said Tuesday, while outlining the “first pillar” in his government’s fall preparedness plan, that the province has ordered 5.1 million doses of the flu vaccine in order to keep people out of the hospitals.
Ford said the $70-million campaign is part 1 of 6 of the government’s plan, “Keeping Ontarians Safe: Preparing for future waves of COVID-19”

“We’ve been working through the summer to put in place a robust and comprehensive plan to tackle a potential, more challenging second wave of COVID-19, he said.

The premier said officials would be releasing details of the province’s plan over several days. He said he wanted to release the plan in stages as to ensure it will “be absorbed” by all Ontarians.
