U.S. President Donald Trump asked Reuters journalist Jeff Mason to take off his face mask while asking a question during a Monday news conference at the White House held on Labour Day.

“You’re very muffled,” Trump told the journalist.

Mason refused to take the mask off, offering he would raise his voice, in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

Trump later praised two other reporters who asked their questions after taking off their face masks during the same briefing, telling one of them “you sound so clear.”
