Naya Rivera’s body found in California lake, police confirm | FULL
CA, 14 Jul 2020
"Glee" star Naya Rivera‘s body was found by authorities on Monday morning, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office confirmed in an afternoon press conference.
Ventura County Sheriff Bill Ayub told reporters that based on the location, physical characteristics, clothing and physical condition of the body, they "are confident the body we found is that of Naya Rivera."
Ayub stated that detectives from their major crimes bureau working on the case also confirmed that there was "no indication of foul play, and no indication that this was a suicide."
Diving teams and law enforcement had been searching the waters of California’s Lake Piru, which is approximately 90 kilometres northwest of downtown Los Angeles, for five days.
According to the sheriff’s office, Rivera rented a pontoon boat at about 1 p.m. Wednesday for herself and her young son to take out onto Lake Piru.
Workers who had rented her the boat found her child sleeping in the boat by himself.
Police say they spoke with her son who provided enough information for investigators to conclude that "his mother never made it out of the water."
