Patrick Nip Tak-kuen, the secretary for the Civil Service of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (#HKSAR), said upholding the Basic Law and pledging allegiance to the HKSAR is the responsibility of every civil servant. He said that, probably early next month, civil servants who were recruited after July 1 this year would be required to make a declaration in writing to uphold the Basic Law and pledge allegiance to the HKSAR.
