Americans were left to shovel out this weekend after a multi-day storm hit parts of north-central U.S., blanking the region in heavy snow.

In Fargo, North Dakota, one man used skis to get around after the snow made a mess of the roads.

“I had my pair of skis just sitting in the corner. I looked outside and you know, it was a snow day today – so why not just go for a ski, see if the roads are good,” said Josh Framke.

The snow dumped up to 27 centimetres of snow in some areas and forced road closures. Schools and businesses in some areas also had to close.
