Macron: 'What happened in Washington DC is not America'

The French President Emmanuel Macron said in a video statement that 'what happened in Washington DC is not America'.

Pro-Trump extremists stormed the US Capitol building following a rally held by the outgoing US President in which he refused to concede the election. Four people died in Washington, with one woman, a Trump supporter, shot in the Capitol building.

The French president condemned the 'violent' actions and said he was confident in the strength of US democracy.
