Gavin Williamson, the education secretary, has said he hopes pupils in England will get “time in schools” this summer under government plans to fund catch-up school activities.

Speaking with him at a No 10 press conference, Jenny Harries, deputy chief medical officer for England said children should hold back from hugging grandparents until more positive evidence from vaccination was available
