The so-called UK, South African and Brazilian variants have prompted questions about whether vaccines will work against them, or whether they could evade pre-existing immunity.

We collected Telegraph readers' questions and put them to an expert: Dr Julian Tang, a Consultant Virologist and Honorary Associate Professor at the University of Leicester.
