The White House COVID-19 response team and federal public health officials are expected to hold a press briefing to provide an update on the pandemic situation in the U.S. and the latest efforts by the Biden administration to rollout COVID-19 vaccines.

Centers for Disease Control (CDC) director Dr. Rochelle Walensky on Friday said the United States has 379 confirmed cases of people diagnosed with the U.K. coronavirus variant across 29 states as of Jan. 27.

The mutated version of the virus, first identified in South Africa, was found in two cases in South Carolina. Public health officials said it’s almost certain that there are more infections that have not been identified yet.

The United States has over 26 million cases of COVID-19 and over 440K deaths due to the virus.
