Sometimes, Elon Musk does more than just tweet eggplants and declare himself king – his car company Tesla has been busy working on its brand new electric semi-truck, described by the company as ‘the safest, most comfortable truck ever.’
After first being announced back in 2016, footage of a prototype has now been released, showing the truck whizzing around a test track near the company’s California factory. Mass production is expected to start later this year, and the truck will use pioneering 4680 cylindrical battery cells, made in Tesla’s Texas and Germany ‘gigafactories’.
And the factories aren’t the only thing that’s huge about this project – one of these trucks is likely to set you back upwards of $150,000 – that’s a lot of deliveries.
