Taiwan pips China to be Asia's top-performing economy amid pandemic

As COVID-19 wrecks much of the global economy, many countries have plunged into their worst recessions in decades.
Taiwan grew its economy by more than 3 percent in 2020, growing faster than mainland China for the first time in decades, with 5-percent growth predicted for 2021.
