Coronavirus: Ontario offering free online workplace health and safety training amid reopening | FULL
CA, 04 Jul 2020
As the province continues reopening amid the coronavirus pandemic, Ontario Premier Doug Ford on Friday announced the provincial government will provide free online workplace health and safety training "for the first time ever in Ontario."
Ontario Minister of Labour, Training and Skills Development Monte McNaughton on Friday explained the details of the province's new free online workplace health and safety training during the press conference. Ontario is spending $3 million for the virtual program, which aims to make it easier for job seekers and workers to get essential qualifications, while abiding by physical distancing guidelines and preventing the spread of COVID-19.
Also, when asked when he thinks Ontario's Stage 3 of economic reopening will begin, as businesses that cannot yet reopen are feeling financial burden, the premier said he can't pinpoint an exact date at this time.
Ontario reported 165 new cases of the novel coronavirus on Friday, bringing the provincial total to 35,535.
