March on Washington: Activists gather at Lincoln Memorial to protest against racial injustice | FULL
CA, 29 Aug 2020
Rev. Al Sharpton and Martin Luther King II led a March on Washington in D.C. with thousands of activists calling for criminal justice and police reform, and racial equality on Friday.
On the 57th anniversary of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.’s historic “I Have a Dream” address at the Lincoln Memorial, the families of Black Americans shot or killed by police officers will speak before marching to the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial.
Speakers at the march included the families of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Eric Garner, and Jacob Blake.
Turnout in Washington was lighter than initially intended due to city-imposed coronavirus pandemic restrictions that limit out-of-state visitors to the nation's capital.
