Beirut explosion: Sunday mass held near site of devastating blast

Residents of Beirut held Sunday mass at the site of a devastating blast nearly two weeks ago.

Approximately two dozen people gathered on a flyover overlooking the port, among them were nuns and members of the rescue services.

The ceremony was held on the same day Lebanon’s top Christian cleric called for early parliamentary elections.

The Aug. 4 explosion killed more than 172 people, injured thousands more, and left some 300,000 people homeless.
