FBI Director Christopher Wray on Thursday testified before the House Homeland Security Committee that there was evidence Russia is planning to influence voters in the 2020 presidential election and their aim was to "primarily denigrate Vice President (Joe) Biden."

Wray said that they have seen "very active" efforts by Russians to influence the election through tools including social media, state media, online journals and other methods. He said that unlike in 2016, however, they had not yet seen efforts to target election infrastructure, such as "cyber targets."

The director added Russians were trying to "sow divisiveness and discord" and efforts surrounding the denigration of Biden was due to "what the Russians see as kind of an anti-Russian establishment."
