US adds 1.4 million jobs, unemployment falls to 8.4 percent

The US economy is showing a few signs of recovery.
Employers are cautiously hiring but, so far, only half of the 22 million jobs lost to the pandemic have been recovered.
And some jobs, in airlines, hotels, restaurants and others may be gone for good.
