Glasgow stabbings not being treated as "terrorist incident" confirms Sturgeon
CA, 27 Jun 2020
Scottish first minister Nicola Sturgeon reacted to the stabbing incident in Glasgow on Friday where at least six people were injured and the suspect shot dead by police, saying that investigations are ongoing but at this stage confirmed they are not treating this as a "terrorist incident."
Sturgeon urged the public to remain calm and not spread disinformation about the incident which took place in the city's West George Street.
"When dreadful things like this happen, they shock us all to our core. But above all, this should remind us of what unites us and not what divides us." Sturgeon said.
Police said six people, including the police officer, had been hospitalized. Authorities have yet to say what the motive for the attack was but police have ruled out terrorism.
Last week, three people were killed in the southern English town of Reading when a man wielding a five-inch knife went on the rampage in a park. Police said they were treating that incident as terrorism.
