CA, 28 Jul 2020
The casket of the late U.S. Congressman John Lewis travelled to Washington, D.C., on Monday, where it passed the Black Lives Matter Plaza on the way to the Capitol.
An invitation-only ceremony was held Monday in the Capitol Rotunda and a public viewing will occur at the top of the East Front Steps of the U.S. Capitol later in the evening.
Lewis died on July 17 at the age of 80 after being diagnosed with advanced pancreatic cancer.
The procession is part of a six-day celebration of life honouring Lewis, culminating in funeral services which will be held in Georgia.
