Federal agents once again used tear gas against anti-racism protesters and made more arrests early Monday morning in downtown Portland, Oregon.

Protesters gathered for the 59th straight day amid public anger over the deployment of federal border patrol officers to Portland against the wishes of local officials, and protested against police brutality and systemic racism in the hottest temperatures of the year so far, which hit triple digits yesterday.

Federal officers used tear gas and other crowd-control munitions against demonstrators. Protesters also rattled the fence surrounding federal property. Federal officers announced an unlawful assembly before 12:30 a.m. Demonstrators remained in the area, chanting "Feds go home" in response.
