Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will hold a news conference on Friday to discuss the ongoing trucker convoy protests in Ottawa, and the various blockades at key border crossings across the country.

The group, dubbed the "Freedom Convoy," has been planted in the streets of Ottawa demanding an end to COVID-19 vaccine mandates and other pandemic health restrictions.

This update comes after Trudeau held a meeting with leaders of opposition parties Thursday evening, where he said he briefed them on the latest developments of the trucker convoy protests and blockades.

As well, the White House is calling on Canada to use federal powers to bring an end to the trucker blockades at key Canada-U.S. border points.
