The Democratic People's Republic of Korea said last Friday it successfully test-fired a new intercontinental ballistic missile called the Hwasong-17. The last time it tested such a powerful rocket was in 2017. The missile appears to have traveled higher and farther than any previous ones. Japan says the missile landed in its exclusive economic zone. China has called for restraint, with the US seeking tougher UN Security Council sanctions against Pyongyang. Is the new missile a game changer? What are the implications on the Korean Peninsula?
