Hundreds of Londoners queue for Covid booster vaccinations

Telegraph, 14 Dec 2021
Hundreds of people in London were queuing to receive their Covid vaccinations on Monday.

People trying to book Covid booster jabs are being told to try again tomorrow as the NHS website is overwhelmed by floods of people seeking their third vaccine dose.

Traffic to the site has soared after Boris Johnson on Sunday called for adults of all ages to book their top-up jabs as he attempts to avoid a new year lockdown amid a “tidal wave” of omicron infections.

On Monday there were reports of people struggling to access lateral flow tests needed to release themselves from isolation after the government website said "there are no more home tests available".

But, when asked about the supply, Mr Johnson said: "If you can't get one online for any reason, then there are ample supplies in the shops. But what I think, if I may say so, what that also shows is that people are doing the sensible thing, and getting tests as well."

The NHS website crashed this morning, while some people trying to book jabs found themselves in virtual queues of up to 15,000 people.
