US says Kabul airlift may continue beyond 31st August deadline

The US government has said the emergency airlift from Kabul may continue beyond 31st August to ensure that no Americans who wish to leave are left behind.
The UK government has promised to use "every hour" left to help as many people as possible escape from Afghanistan before US troops withdraw.
