As the COVID-19 pandemic still takes a heavy toll, the world sought answers to its origins. It's good sense to leave tricky jobs to the professionals. China looked to the World Health Organization to treat the coronavirus origin-tracing work as a scientific probe, guard against political interference, and seek answers across regions worldwide. China was the first country to carry out joint research on COVID-19 origins with the WHO. Earlier this year, a 34-member WHO-China joint expert team carried out a 28-day research mission in Wuhan.
