Crowds have gathered in huge numbers outside Tokyo's Olympic stadium as the opening ceremony takes place.

"Thousands of people now pack the pavements that circle the stadium and the voice of anti-Olympics protestors can be heard clearly through a megaphone," says The Telegraph's Ben Bloom.
