WH: Taliban agree to allow civilian 'safe passage'

National security adviser Jake Sullivan says the Taliban have agreed to allow “safe passage” for civilians hoping to join a US-directed airlift. He acknowledged that some civilians encountered resistance as they tried to reach the Kabul airport. (Aug. 17)
