California Dixie wildfire victims return to razed homes in rural community
Telegraph, 13 Aug 2021
After California's largest single wildfire in recorded history destroyed hundreds of homes in rural Greenville, residents began to cope with the magnitude of the losses.
The month-old Dixie Fire continues to burn through bone-dry trees, brush and grass, but for those whose homes burned, the losses are just beginning to be realized.
"It's heartbreaking," said local resident Tana Stoy, whose son's home burned down, but her's survived. "I haven't been able to get down there, but I have been out to some of the other neighborhoods and they're destroyed."
Greenville resident Ken Donnell wasn't so lucky. His home and all his belongings were reduced to ashes. All he has left are the clothes he escaped in.
