The Australian government gave provisional approval for the use of Moderna’s Covid-19 vaccine on August 9, 2021, with the first million doses expected to arrive in September. With only 22 per cent of its population fully vaccinated, Australia’s vaccination rate is currently ranked one of the lowest among Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) member states. About half of the country remains under lockdown in an attempt to contain the spread of the highly infectious Delta variant.
