Crowds of people demonstrating against the German government's measures to combat the coronavirus staged a rally in Stuttgart on Saturday, with protesters speaking out against measures like mask wearing.

Some demonstrators marched under the banner "Celebration of freedom and peace".

Counter-demonstrators staged rival protests.

“I think it’s so selfish,” Nada, a counter-demonstrator originally from Iran, said. “Actually, these rules are necessary at this period of time. Otherwise, this virus can spread so easily.”

The protest ended peacefully, with eyewitnesses estimating the number of attendees at about two thousand.
