Quebec premier Legault "shocked" to learn about death of sisters Norah and Romy Carpentier

CA, 14 Jul 2020
Quebec Premier François Legault said on Monday he was "shocked" to learn about the deaths of Norah and Romy Carpentier, whose bodies were discovered Saturday in a small town near the province’s capital, saying “I cannot believe that you can kill some children.”

He said police will do everything to find the person responsible for the deaths of the two victims.

The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) said in a tweet on Monday morning that the manhunt for the girls’ father, Martin Carpentier, is underway in the same sector where their bodies were discovered.

The two girls were the subject of an Amber Alert last week until Saturday when their bodies were discovered in a small town near the province's capital.

To date, investigators have not released details about the girls’ deaths. Sgt. Ann Mathieu, a spokeswoman for the SQ, explained that any information about their autopsies will not be released until police find the suspect.
