Quebec City mosque shooter's 40-year sentence reduced, top court rules it unconstitutional
CA, 27 Nov 2020
The man who murdered six people in a Quebec City mosque in 2017 will be eligible to apply for parole in 25 years rather than 40, the province’s highest court ruled Thursday.
The Quebec Court of Appeal has ruled the consecutive life sentences against Alexandre Bissonnette as unconstitutional. The 30-year-old was sentenced in February 2019 to life in prison with no possibility of parole for 40 years. Mike Armstrong explains the decision behind the reduction.
