Toronto police chief Mark Saunders announced Monday he would resign his position at the end of July.
Saunders did not reveal specifically what led to his decision, but his resignation comes amid recent calls to defund part of the Toronto police budget as well as peaceful protests in response to the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, Minn.
