So who wins the truce? As international pressure for a ceasefire mounts, we take stock of eleven days of fighting between Israel and Palestinians, the worst since a 50-day war back in 2014. Back then, it was squarely about the Gaza Strip. This time, Jerusalem was the spark, a wake-up call for those who thought the Middle East might move on from the Palestinian cause with the recent normalisation of ties with Arab states.
