Chad security forces clash with protesters after Deby's son takes control

DW, 25 May 2021
Security forces in Chad used teargas and batons to disperse crowds who took to the streets to protest against a military takeover following the death of President Idriss Deby one month ago.
The tension is about Mahamat Idriss Deby. He took over after his father's death. He dissolved parliament and took control of the country as head of a military council. He has promised to hold democratic elections within 18 months.
DW's West Africa Correspondent Fred Muvunyi has been in Chad reporting on the situation.
