A COVID-19 emergency is spreading through South Asia. #Nepal reported nearly 9,000 new cases on Wednesday. Infections include mountaineers at Mount Qomolangma - also known as Mount Everest. Base camp officials said more than 17 guides and foreign climbers have tested positive after being sent to the capital Kathmandu for treatment. Nepal's Himalayan Times also reported more than 10 other infections on another mountain. The government said it was unaware of any infections among climbers. The industry is a major source of revenue for the country, attracting visitors from around the world.
