Alberta Premier Jason Kenney and Health Minister Tyler Shandro will provide an update on Alberta’s COVID-19 vaccine distribution on Monday afternoon.

Earlier on Monday, Shandro sent a tweet saying he would be announcing that COVID-19 vaccines will be offered to more than 15,000 workers at federal and provincial meatpacking plants across the province, starting this week.

He said the inoculations will be done at a combination of on-site and community locations.

Plans for a vaccination clinic at Cargill’s beef slaughterhouse south of Calgary were put off last week.

That plant was the site of a major outbreak last year, with nearly half of its 2,200 workers testing positive for the novel coronavirus.
