Nuclear reactor supplier Framatome said China’s Taishan Nuclear Power Plant was “operating within the safety parameters” and that staff are working to help fix a “performance issue”. Earlier, CNN reported that the French firm had warned of an “imminent radiological threat” and asked the US to help repair a gas leak at the facility.
Framatome is responsible for maintenance at the plant in China’s Guangdong province. According to the CNN report, the French firm had also accused local safety authorities of raising acceptable radiation levels to avoid shutting down the plant.
