Low turnout as Algerians vote in parliamentary election
Al Jazeera, 13 Jun 2021
Algerians are voting in the first parliamentary election since mass protests forced President Abdelaziz Bouteflika to step down two years ago.
Parties that are pro Algerian President Abdelmajid Tebboune have urged people to show up in huge numbers for Saturday’s parliamentary vote.
Algerians remain widely sceptical about reforms promised by the president.
The protest movement that galvanized the nation in 2019 against the ruling class is now calling for a boycott.
