Dozens of students were abducted Monday morning at Bethel Baptist High School in Nigeria, though the exact number is not known. A total of about 180 students attend the school.

According to police, a group of gunmen stormed the school at about 2 a.m. that morning, shooting sporadically as they kidnapped the students. John Hayab, chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, told The Associated Press on Monday that so far, 26 students had returned and was hopeful more would escape their kidnappers.

It was the fourth abduction of students in Kaduna state in the past six months and there have been seven mass kidnappings of students in the country so far this year.
