'This is the biggest privilege and responsibility of my life,' Hipkins said after formally taking office. Hipkins and Carmel Sepuloni - New Zealand’s first Pasifika deputy prime minister - were sworn in by New Zealand Governor-General Cindy Kiro. The new prime minister is not expected to have an easy start in the job, with households across New Zealand facing cost of living pressures.
