The Cooper’s Hill Cheese Roll, an annual competition in the UK that dates back centuries, has been suspended for two years during the Covid-19 pandemic. The event returned on June 5, 2022, when eager competitors scrambled to try and be the first to catch a 3kg (7lbs) wheel of Double Gloucester rolling down the steep Cooper’s Hill in Gloucestershire in southwest England. Injuries are common and wet weather this year made the event even more difficult. Considered an extreme sport, cheese rolling attracts competitors from all over the world who are warned they participate at their own risk.
