Biden says Trump’s "failure" to act earlier on COVID-19 is a "betrayal to the American people"
CA, 11 Sep 2020
Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden on Wednesday accused U.S. President Donald Trump of “betraying" the American people after interviews for journalist Bob Woodward’s new book claimed that Trump acknowledged in February he knew how deadly and contagious the novel coronavirus was, but did not convey that information to the American people because he did not want to create panic.
Democratic vice-presidential nominee Kamala Harris also reacted Thursday following the release of a Feb. 7 recording in which Trump said he knew the novel coronavirus was transmitted by airborne particles but admitted to downplaying the danger.
Harris said she found it “outrageous” that the president “knew the facts” but still downplayed the threat publicly.
