Olivia Colman weighs in on The Crown fiction label controversy
Telegraph, 11 Dec 2020
Netflix has said it would not add a fiction label to their hit series 'The Crown,' and although star Olivia Colman says she was unaware of the controversy, she seems to agree.
During a recent interview with The Associated Press for her upcoming film 'The Father,' Colman said she didn't know what the fuss was about.
Recently, several key British figures urged the streaming giant to add a disclaimer to "The Crown" stating it's fiction so viewers wouldn't presume certain scenes and series themes as fact.
While previous seasons weren't met with the same calls for labeling, critics say the current fourth season, which tackles Britain's divisive 1980s, is too sensitive to the royal family and therefore a clear divide between fact and artistic license should be made.
