A 600-tonne archway that had stood in the way of construction of a new subway line in central China was moved intact in August 2022. The 12-year-old structure, modelled on landmark traditional gates at a temple in Beijing, was placed on rollers for the three-day manoeuvre in Taiyuan, the provincial capital of the Shanxi province.
