George Floyd protests: Trump "appalled" by calls to defund police, says White House press secretary

CA, 09 Jun 2020
White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany said during a briefing on Monday that U.S. President Donald Trump is "appalled" by nation-wide calls to defund police forces, meaning lowering police budgets and allocating those funds elsewhere in the community.

Calls for the defunding of police forces come after the death of an unarmed Black man in Minneapolis, George Floyd, who died while in police custody.

Also, when asked by a reporter whether or not Trump believes there's systemic racism within U.S police forces, McEnany said that the president recognizes instances of racism and that he be believes American law enforcement is "the best in the world."
